Resident Evil 4 is one of the most enjoyable, visually stunning games you will ever experience on your Playstation 2. Capcom have done away with the typewriter ribbons, so when you get to a typewriter you can save without hassle. There are still herbs that can be mixed for a bigger health boost, chicken eggs and fish can be collected to restore health as well. Ammo is more plentiful than in previous instalments but you'll want to be conserving most of it for the really tough guys and the bosses. The weaker enemies should be dealt with a bullet to the face/kneecap and then kicked, followed up with quick stabs of your knife. Or if they are attacking en masse, use a grenade or incedinary grenade. Try playing it and within half an hour, there'll be no going back.... the greatest Resi so far is upon us so go and play it now!

Ada: "Need a ride, handsome?"
Leon:"Heh. Okay..."

Once you have finished the game, you will unlock a number of new modes and weapons. These include the high-score mini-game 'The Mercenaries', Assignment Ada which is a stand-alone scenario starring Ada, Separate Ways which is a scenario with Ada as the main character as well but it actually ties in with the main game's storyline. Beating Separate ways unlocks the Chicago Typewriter for purchase from the Merchant and you can also buy the Infinite Rocket Launcher. There is also lots to unlock in the Mercenaries mini-game. You also unlock 2 sets of special costumes to use on another runthrough.

Leon:
"I didn't intend to be part of your crappy script."

Leon S. Kennedy is now an agent for the U.S government. He has been sent on a solo mission to rescue the President's daughter, Ashley, who was last sighted in a European village. Leon is a survivor of the Raccoon City incident 6 years ago.

Leon: "Don't worry Ashley, I'm comin' for ya!!"

At certain points during the game there are button prompts to initiate actions such as jumping out windows, knocking down ladders and pushing bookcases. There are even button prompts during many cut-scenes, so don't put down your controller when a cut-scene kicks in or you'll be in a whole lot of trouble!

Dr Salvador: *Broom* *Broom* "Heeyaaa!"

Dr Salvador is a Ganado who always carries a chainsaw with him, wears a sack over his head and is dressed in overalls. Your best bet is to use grenades and/or shotgun blasts to take care of him. Don't let him get too close or he will decapitate you in one blow!!

Ada: "See you around."

Ada Wong is a trained assassin who is an expert in the use of many firearms and other weapons as well as different types of fighting techniques. She survived the Raccoon City incident 6 years ago. Ada has her own objectives but also helps Leon with his mission.

Luis: "Okay...it's game time."

Luis Sera is a Spanish local who assists Leon in his mission to rescue Ashley, the President's daughter. He seems very mysterious and helps out whenever their paths cross. Who is he really and what are his objectives? You'll have to play to find out!

Merchant:
"Stranger, stranger!! Now that's a weapon!!!"

The Merchant will sell you weapons and upgrades. He'll only sell you first aid spray if you have virtually no healing items in your attache case. Any treasures you find can be sold to the Merchant for a number of pesetas. Whenever there are new weapons or upgrades available, it will say 'list updated' on the shop screen. You can also buy a treasure map at certain points in the game to help you locate treasures to sell, to fund your purchases.

Del Lago:"..."

Del Lago is the giant aquatic creature that guards the lake which Leon has to cross to get to Ashley. In actual fact, it is a Salamander that mutated after being implanted with a Plagas parasite. Its weak point is its mouth which can be hurt with the harpoons found on-board the speedboat.

Colmillos:"Grrrrrrrrr!!"

Colmillos are dogs that have become infected with a different strain of Las Plagas. They will attempt to tear out people's throats and the plagas on its back will strike out like tentacles.

El Gigante: "Raaaarrrrrrrrrr!!"

El Gigante has the appearance of a gigantic troll. The first time you encounter this guy is when the villagers release him on Leon in an attempt to stop him in his tracks.

Ashley:"It's gonna what?!"

Ashley Graham is the daughter of the President of the U.S.A. One day, on her way home from college she was kidnapped by a mysterious group of people. She was allegedly spotted in a European village, but hasn't been seen since!

Mendez:
"Hmmmm. You carry the blood as us, it seems.
Nevertheless,you're an outsider. Just remember, if
you become a nuisance to our eyes, you face severe
consequences."

Leon:"Hasta luego"

Bitores Mendez is the village chief and controls the villagers. He has super-human strength and is approximately 7ft tall.

Los Illuminados:"Muere, muere, muere, muere…"
Los Illumianados:"¡Mátalo!"

The Los Illuminados use shields, maces, scythes, arrows when you meet them. The ones that wear masks can't be hurt with headshots so its best to shoot them in the kneecaps and then stab them.

Verdugo: "..."

The Verdugo is one of Salazar's bodyguards. The 'right hand man' is sent after Leon - he's far more intimidating without his cloak and it takes a lot of ammo to take him down for good!!

Salazar:"So maybe you have nine lives.
        But it doesn't matter now, Mr. Kennedy!
        I've sent my right hand to dispose of you."

Leon:"Your right hand comes off?"

Salazar:"Say whatever you please. Die, you worm!!!!"

Ramon Salazar is a midget castellan of the Salazar family. He is unwittingly being manipulated by Lord Saddler. Salazar usually has 2 bodyguards with him known as Verdugos.

Krauser:
"You may be able to prolong your life,
but it's not like you can escape your
invitable death, is it?"

Krauser is a henchman of Saddler's, sent to take care of Leon.

Lord Saddler:
" Oh, Mr Kennedy, you entertain me.
To show my appreciation, I will help
you awaken from your world of cliches."

Saddler is the main bad guy, who tricked Salazar into giving him control of the Las Plagas. He plans to use the Las Plagas to infect the world's population so they become infected and will then join his strange religious cult 'the Los Illuminados'.
